Slow Cooker Bacon and Cheese Quiche

Ingredients

  • 1 box refrigerated pie crusts
  • 2 Cups shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
  • 1 Cup cooked bacon
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1/4 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Directions

Spray 5- to 6-quart oval slow cooker with cooking spray.Press pie crust halves in bottom and 2 inches up side of slow cooker, overlapping seams by 1/4 inch.
Cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes on High.

Pour whisked eggs and bacone over the mixture. Top with cheese and seasonings.

Cook on low for 2 and 1/2 hours.

Easy Slow Cooker Bacon Spinach Quiche

I don’t know about you, but I seriously love eating breakfast for dinner. Maybe it’s because I hate cooking in the morning. I’m so not a morning person, but I really enjoy a hot breakfast. If I’m going to eat a hot meal for breakfast, I’m going out to eat, lol. But….since I never cook it in the mornings, it makes a perfect night time meal, too. This one is so easy to throw together, as you’ll see in the video.

We started with these simple ingredients. Eggs, milk, butter, spinach, cheese, bacon and salt & pepper.

And after we cooked it, it looked like this. I know, not the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen, but it sure was mighty tasty! If you don’t like spinach or have a child or husband who dislikes it, just leave it out and/or replace it with a vegetable everyone likes. I have tried green peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, etc., and they’re all good. Of course, if your family is not happy about any veggies in their eggs, leave them all out and have it a meat only quiche. The nice thing about quiche dishes is that you CAN change it up to fit your family. This is a perfect dish for Christmas morning or even New Year’s Day! Keep it in mind, because it’s so, so very easy! I don’t know about you, but I happen to like easy recipes, as long as it’s also tasty!


Slow Cooker Bacon And Cheese Bread Is Taking Over The Internet

If there are two things people are really getting stuck into right now it&rsquos using their slow cookers 24/7 and making homemade bread. So why not combine the two?

Yes, you could make slow cooker bread, or even slow cooker bread rolls. But how does slow cooker bacon and cheese bread sound? It, of course, sounds like a brilliant idea.

Various photos and recipes for this delicious melty, gooey, cheesy, bacon-y bread have been doing the rounds on the internet &ndash and in particular on slow cooker appreciation Facebook groups &ndash and we can see why. Just think about having a massive slab of this warm from the slow cooker. Mmmmmmmmm.

Anyway&hellip judging by this recipe from the Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips Facebook page, it couldn&rsquot be simpler to make. And you only need a handful of ingredients: self-raising flour, warm water, grated cheese, cooked bacon and a pinch of salt.

Then you simply mix everything together and cook it on high in the slow cooker for 90 minutes. Oh, and popping it under the grill for a few minutes to get the top extra crispy and delicious once it&rsquos cooked is a great shout too.

If you&rsquore planning on partaking in a BBQ this weekend, seeing as the weather&rsquos meant to be quite nice, this bread would make a great side for all those burgers, sausages and whatever else you&rsquove got up your barbecuing sleeve.


Recipe Summary

  • 1 (9 inch) frozen pie crust, thawed
  • 1 ¾ pounds sliced bacon
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • ½ teaspoon spicy brown mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour, or as needed
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prick bottom and sides of pie crust and bake 10 minutes, until lightly brown set aside to cool.

Place bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside.

In a bowl, mix eggs, milk, mustard and nutmeg. In a separate bowl, toss bacon with flour to lightly coat. Spread 3/4 bacon mixture and Swiss cheese over bottom of pie crust. Pour egg mixture over bacon mixture. Top with remaining bacon mixture.

Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a fork inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before serving.


How to Make bacon cheese Quiche

After you’ve prepared your crush and crimped the edges, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Add the bacon and cheeses directly to the bottom of the pie crust. In a medium bowl mix the milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Then pour this mixture over the bacon and cheese.

Bake the quiche in the oven for 45-50 minutes or until a knife, inserted in the center, comes out clean. Let set for 5-10 minutes before cutting into it and serving.

Make It Ahead

If you want to make it ahead of time, simple freeze the uncooked quiche until ready to bake and serve. Slide the quiche into a freezer safe bag that is airtight. Freeze for up to one month in advance.

When you’re ready to bake it, remove from the freezer and let it thaw a bit. Then bake as directed.

Leave any leftover quiche in the baking pan, cover it with foil, and keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

My recipe uses 3 different grated cheeses and, my secret weapon, cream cheese. This mac and cheese is so rich and so creamy! I recommend that you grate you own cheese for this dish because the pre-shredded has a powder on it to prevent the cheese from sticking together, and I found when testing this recipe the melty quality of the cheese is better with hand grated. That being said, it will work fine and be very tasty with pre-shredded, but I think the texture is not as good.

I love this recipe because I can make it for a crowd when entertaining at home, or I can make it and take it to a gathering very easily. Plus there is bacon- the forever crowd pleaser.

I am a Wisconsin girl and am wondering, what are your favorite recipes or cheeses? Do you love mac and cheese or maybe cheese right off the block. Or even cheese curds.

I’m sorry for not replying! The holidays got away from me. Did you try double or tripling it? You could probably double it in a standard size slow cooker. I don’t think a triple batch would fit.


  • Use Swiss or cheddar cheese instead of gruyere.
  • Swap the bacon for chopped ham.
  • Add spinach to the quiche Lorraine for some extra nutrients.
  • If you’d like quiche with a crust, use refrigerated pie dough.
  • Pour the egg mixture into a muffin tin to make crustless quiche Lorraine muffins. Bake at 350 degrees for 28-30 minutes.

Caramelized Onion, Bacon and Cheese Crustless Quiche

I love weekends! Sleeping in, lazy days spent with the family and late dinners happen most weekends. I LOVE bacon. But, I am not a fan of cooking it first thing in the morning. The smell makes me feel nauseated. My children will tell you they very rarely get bacon for breakfast. I don’t mind cooking it the rest of the day just not in the mornings. This made a perfect lazy Saturday dinner.

Large eggs were on sale this past week for $.99. I checked the date on them and they are good until October 10. I bought 5 dozen eggs. Sounds like a ton of eggs but I made 2 quiches that use 1 dozen of the eggs. Planning ahead for the next few weeks I will make a french toast casserole, and three weeks worth of breakfast and I am out of eggs by the 10th!

Planning is the biggest way to save money. You will throw away less food by sitting down with a calendar and planning out meals according to what you have on hand and what you are doing each day. Have to get the kids from soccer practice after school and have music lessons at 6:00 pm one night? Make sure you have a slow cooker meal going so that when you can get home in between events or after lessons dinner is 90% finished for you. It will save on those emergency Chinese and pizza orders because you ran out of time and everyone is starving.

It is not easy but try to plan ahead one week at time.

I found this recipe on Pinterest. I changed it a bit to fit my families tastes. The original recipe for Crustless Quiche was from A Pretty Life in the Suburbs.com. I added bacon, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. My children don’t believe there is ever enough cheese in anything unless they can see the stringy cheese of melted mozzarella so I tend to add a bit to most cheese dishes to let them know there is enough cheese.

I made two versions of this casserole – one with onions and one without. I know my children. Three of the four of us LOVED the caramelized onions added to the quiche. It added tons of flavor to the dish.

Both children ate the leftovers for breakfast the next morning and I had one serving for lunch.

I served this with a side of fruit salad.
