3 Fruity mocktails for summer sipping
While the adults have their drinks, the kids can join in too with their colorful fruit juices dressed like cocktails.
Happy hours shouldn’t just be about the cocktails we drink but the company too. Here are three great-tasting mocktail recipes for the kids while we drink our real cocktails. But I think I might want to join in their mocktail party too.
These drinks went through a taste test with my own kids. Who else could say if they are good or not? All drinks were finished quickly in one sitting, and there were favorites and requests for second rounds, confirming that these “cocktails” are very kid friendly.
Blueberry and grapefruit spritzer recipe
Grapefruit soda can stand alone as a drink, but with the addition of crushed blueberries, mint and lime, the overall taste changes to a more delightful combination of fruity flavors. It’s crisp and refreshing.
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 3 fresh mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- Grapefruit soda, chilled
- In a glass, crush the blueberries and mint.
- Add the lime juice.
- Pour the grapefruit sparkling soda until almost full. Serve cold.
Nonalcoholic strawberry margarita recipe
Who doesn’t love strawberries? We are big lovers of strawberries at home, so I frequently buy them to use in different kinds of recipes. My kids’ favorite is when I chop them up and macerate them with lingonberry syrup sprinkled with chopped fresh mint. That is exactly from where I adapted this margarita recipe, and I’m sure you’ve guessed that this is the big winner among these drinks.
- Colored sugar
- 1 slice lime
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1 tablespoon lingonberry syrup (can be replaced with other sweeteners or berry-based syrup)
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
- Tonic water
- On a saucer, pour the sugar, and spread it around.
- Pass the slice of lime on the rim of the glass to wet it, and then turn it upside down on the saucer to cover the rim with sugar. Set aside.
- In a blender, place the strawberries, lingonberry syrup, lime juice and ice. Pulse until the mixture becomes smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the glass, and then add the tonic water until full. Stir.
- Garnish with the slice of lime, and serve immediately.
Green apple and pineapple mock mojito recipe
Combined fruit juices with a spritz, this is the simplest recipe here. The combination of green apple, pineapple, lime and mint gives a pleasant round of fruitiness.

This was another easy drink to throw together
Although it took a little bit longer to come together than the first recipe, Zakarian's sparkling mocktail was still easy to make.
I filled a cocktail shaker with ice, then added the mango, pineapple, and freshly squeezed lime juices. I shook it all together for about 10 seconds, then strained the mix into an ice-filled glass, leaving a bit of room at the top to pour in the ginger beer.
I garnished the finished product with a pineapple wedge and a slice of mango.
