Feasting Through Four Seasons: Orlando

Feasting Through Four Seasons: Orlando

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando presents a fresh take on this up-and-coming culinary destination

With several options to choose from, and chefs specializing in each cuisine, this is an Orlando for food-lovers.

Orlando is one of the world’s most popular travel destinations. However, if you think Orlando is for kids only — think again!

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando, which opened in August 2014, presents a fresh take on the city. I did see a few “hidden Mickey’s” throughout the hotel though. The clean, contemporary décor and renowned guest service is likely the reason that this resort is the first and only recipient in Central Florida of the coveted AAA Five Diamond Award.

Adults can experience the magic of Orlando without setting foot in a Disney park — unless one wants to, of course. At Four Seasons, guests enjoy the sanctuary of the adult-only pool, The Oasis, which is exclusively for guests 21 and older. It is an infinity-edge lakeside pool surrounded by cabanas and royal palms. Think hourly treats, from frozen grapes and iced mocha shots, to sunglass cleanings and Evian spritzes.

With several options to choose from, and chefs specializing in each cuisine, this is an Orlando for food-lovers. From Latin to Italian, burgers to branzino, with what’s happening in Orlando right now this hot city is quickly becoming a top culinary destination. Feasting my way through Four Seasons at their six hip and happening restaurants under one umbrella was supremely savory! Here’s the skinny:

Capa
This stunning rooftop signature steakhouse is helmed by chef Tim Dacey, a chef with strong city roots at acclaimed independent restaurants, having cooked at hot eateries such as The NoMad in NYC and Spiaggia in Chicago. Tapas and prime meats are the specialty at Capa and an open kitchen and sizzling wood fire create an alluring ambiance. Floor-to-ceiling windows and an expansive terrace entice diners to step outside to view the nightly Magic Kingdom Park fireworks. In hues of black, grey, and crimson, this striking restaurant evokes “big city hot spot” among the plethora of chain eateries that Orlando is known for.

Four Seasons

While the resort recently announced that you could score a free night, a surprising change has happened over at the Four Seasons!

The Orlando Business Journal has reported that the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney Resort was sold for $610 million in cash to Host Hotels & Resorts Inc.! That means the resort was sold for $1.4 million per key, which is an unheard of amount for hotel sales.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Disney World

Host Hotel also owns the 2,004-room Orlando World Center Marriott and has been known to create luxury resorts. According to Orlando Business Journal, on average, the cost to develop luxury hotels is $675,000 per room when considering the “land, building and site improvements, interior buildout, fees pre-opening and working capital and more.”

Four Seasons

The 444-room Four Seasons hotel opened in 2014 with 55,000 square feet of meeting space, 6 food and beverage spots, 5 pools, 3 tennis courts, a 13,000-square-foot spa, an 18-hole golf course and golf club, and a 5-acre water park called The Explorer Island. The Four Seasons also offered transportation to the Disney Parks, and a Goofy themed character breakfast, making it a prime location for guests.

James F. Risoleo, the president and CEO of Host, stated to Orlando Business Journal, “Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort is a truly iconic and irreplaceable property that is well-positioned to benefit from significant demand as the pandemic subsides and the 18-month celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary begins in October,. A strong market leader with a 2019 [revenue per available room] Index over 215, this resort is now Host Hotels’ highest-ranked property based on 2019 RevPAR and Total RevPAR, and fifth-highest based on EBITDA per key.”

It’s the perfect place to bring family, friends, work colleagues and business associates to break fasting during the month of Ramadan, which begins in April. Familial bonds are often strengthened through food and laughter, and there is no better place to do that than in the elegant and warm surrounds of the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

General Manager Alex Porteous believes families can share meaningful moments through food. “With our thoughtful dining experiences and caring service, families can build new memories together…. this year, it is time to reconnect with loved ones and cherish them.”

Mouth-watering dishes specially curated by Datuk Chef Fazley were taken from his beloved recipes from his childhood. Infused with authentic local flavours, diners can expect to savour a selection of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage as well as try some long-forgotten dishes.

“For me, cooking is an act of love and healing, handed down from generation to generation,” Datuk Chef Fazley says. “My grandmother was the heart of our home, and it was her cooking which brought us all together. With this collaboration, I want to create that same feeling for other families.”

Starting on April 13 to May 12 for dinner only at Curate, expect scintillating Malaysian fayres such as Nasi Tumpang Ayam Bakar Pasu (flavoured herb rice with charcoal chicken cooked in a clay pot), Puyut Salai & Kulit Mangga Muda Bakar (smoked quail with grilled unripe mangoes).

In addition, you can also treat your palates to Ikan Sepat Masin Masak Lemak Cili Api Dengan Buah Cermai dan Pucuk Pegaga (fermented freshwater fish in turmeric cream with Cermai fruit and Pegaga.)

With live cooking stations adding to the attraction, guests choose from the vast selection of food from behind acrylic screens in this assisted buffet.
